THE SANDY HOOK UNIT OF THE GATEWAY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA IS IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORING ITS NIKE SITE (NY-56) AT FORT HANCOCK, NEW JERSEY. EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN FOUND TO ASSIST WITH THIS RESTORATION EFFORT AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES. THERE IS NO COST IN ACQUIRING THIS EQUIPMENT SINCE IT'S SIMPLY A TRANSFER FROM ONE GOVERNMENT AGENCY TO ANOTHER, YET FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE CAN BE UTILIZED TO TRANSPORT THESE ITEMS, MOST OF WHICH ARE LOCATED OVER A THOUSAND MILES AWAY. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN DONATING TO THE PARK, WHICH GOAL IS TO MAKE THE BEST RESTORED NIKE SITE ON THE EAST COAST, PLEASE SEND YOUR DONATIONS TO THE SANDY HOOK FOUNDATION. THE SANDY HOOK FOUNDATION IS THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE'S OFFICIAL FRIENDS GROUP THAT HAS IN THE PAST RAISED FUNDS TO PURCHASE AN AJAX WITH ITS LAUNCHER AND TO TRANSPORT 2 NIKE AJAX MISSILES TO THE PARK.
